ONLINE WORKSHOP
Response to immediate need, ‘site specific’: sharing an online ‘workshop’ space for all Rietveld community.
For most of us all/some of our tools are out of reach. In this context, does it still make sense to intent your works, publications the way they were made in the heart of the Academie?
Shouldn’t we better adapt and find alternatives for our community to make publications, rethink the way publications are made and adapt the way we share them. For at the moment, we are all forced into a html diet, so let’s turn it into our advantage.
A publication is not only prints, a layered stack of paper and ink, a publication is most of all meant to be shared, discovered by touch, guided by the binding. The problem we encounter does not liet in the making of publications, but in what they are deprived of as a ‘printed matter’.
These intentions are not fated to the material realm, these intentions placed in making publications, printed matters, paper matters of any kind are multi-layered in the way they are meant to be discovered by the viewer.
With htmldiet.com we propose a skeuomorph of our common spaces, such as the Workshops, for students of the Academie to share, discover and reinvent their works.
A place to enlarge your living-room through the screen with the possibility of sharing tips about your publications, the way they are binded or composed.
A place to share thoughts on the current situation and how it impacts our work.
A place to share old/current/to come works, thought for the online platform, as a simibook, a video, an audiofile or a PDF simply.
We are trying to sustain a community that is certainly not lost, but scattered. What we believe to be our biggest strength: our flux of exchange, influences and support towards each other’s work.
WE INVITE YOU
to share your poster for canceled events, thoughts
for the 100 and +, or for
the individual in its living-room. We invite you to join your screen to ours and make of all these isolated windows one web of online matters, that in another time could
be printed.
